Kitchen Utensils

Sometimes kitchen utensils can get rusty. This is especially true of older utensils, or even newer utensils that are made of cheaper materials. Because nobody wants to eat rust or wants to have guests over and have them see rusty utensils, it is important to know what to do to remove the rust.

For some people, the first inclination is to try to rub the rust off. Some people attempt to do this while using something as harsh as sandpaper. While this might be effective in getting some of the rust off, the sandpaper is so abrasive that it simply does more damage to the utensils.

Some people use home remedies to try to remove the rust from kitchen utensils. One of the most popular methods involves the use of an onion. Those who want to attempt this remedy should gather all of the kitchen utensils they own that have a rust problem.

Next, a fresh onion should be taken and peeled well. The outer layers of the onion must be peeled away in order for this remedy to work. Then the onion should be rubbed all over those areas of the kitchen utensils that have rust problems. Some people even stick the utensils inside of the onions and let them sit.

After rubbing the onion juice over the utensils for a few minutes, the kitchen utensils should sit for a few more minutes. Then, by scraping off the kitchen utensils, a person will likely find that most (if not all) the rust will come loose.
