Kitchen Sinks
The best and most attractive kitchen sinks are often those
that have been cared for by homeowners. While it is a given that kitchen
sinks are going to get messy from time to time, this does not mean that
all sinks must be sloppy. A person can help maintain the kitchen sinks
by doing the following:
• Porcelain sinks – If the kitchen sinks
being cleaned are porcelain sinks, they should be filled with hot water
as well as a cup of bleach. By letting this mixtures sit for a couple
of hours, a person can remove some long-standing stains. Dishwashing
liquid should be used to clean the bleach out.
If stains remain after this process, it is best to leave some scouring
powder on the stain for a few hours. If this doesn’t work, some
people try to rub the stain with a pumice stone. However, this is not
typically recommended because the stone can damage the finish.
• Stainless steel – Stainless steel kitchen
sinks should be washed with warm, soapy water. Using a powder or gel
to clean a sink like this typically is not needed. In the occasion when
it is needed, not very much of these substances should be used. By rinsing
the sink well, it should retain its luster and shine.
Standing water is one of the things that will ruin the finish in a
sink. The water dulls the luster and makes the stainless steel kitchen
sinks look more ordinary. Also, leaving items like rags or steel wool
on the kitchen sinks could cause damage or rust that would be hard to
remove.
