Kitchen Appliances FAQs

I get tired of cords from my small appliances messing up my kitchen. What can I do?

Even though people often love to have their small kitchen appliances in areas where they are easily accessible, there are many who find that these appliances make it harder to decorate the kitchen the way they want to. In order to avoid this, many people use household items to reduce the number of cords lying around. Some people use twist ties from bread bags in order to tie up the cords. Others use rubber bands to help keep the cords out of the way. If a person is willing to pay a little extra for the small appliances, he or she can buy appliances that have retractable cords that stay out of sight when they are not in use.

My kitchen utensils have gotten a little rusty. What is the easiest way to remove the rust?

One of the home remedies that many people tend to think work well is using the juice from an onion in order to remove the rust. By rubbing silverware and other utensils with a peeled onion, the acids from the onion are supposed to be able to react to the rust and remove it. More severe rust might require a person to actually stick the kitchen utensils into the onion for several minutes. This is supposed to have the same effect that rubbing onion juice on the utensils has.

How can I estimate the cost of installing a kitchen island in my home?

A kitchen island can cost quite a bit of money if there are a lot of extras added to it. However even if things like sinks, stoves or ovens are not added, there still can be some significant costs incurred. By measuring the space needed, checking the prices of extras and checking the price of countertops, a person can have a better idea of how much the kitchen island should cost before a professional contractor brings his estimate.
